The .com domain name I want to register has been taken, is it advisable to go for it's .com.ng or .ng.
Will it not hinder me from getting foreign visitors to the site?

What type of website and what purpose is it going to serve.
Purpose: Are you trying to create a brand or just another web page online.

If you are in to create a brand, I'll advice you stay away from .com.ng when there is an existing .com version of your URL because most of your visitors/new visitors won't end up on your page as they'll type in .com from their browser instead of .com.ng (bad for your brand).

You might be able to build a brand with .ng if your brand will be targeting Nigerians, however, if you are looking to target the international market, a .com will be the best for you.

Also like most other websites, if you are looking to build just another website without purpose and direction, you can use any extension.

In short, go for another domain name you can register it's .com version
